Today Widget’s require iOS 8.

StepWise has an Apple Watch App.

The Apple Watch App allows you to view your steps and progress.

Leaving a tip enables a trip counter button in the Apple Watch App.

StepWise is designed for iPhone 5S, iPhone6 and iPhone 6 plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus & iPhone SE as detailed on the AppStore.

If you are using any other model, StepWise will not work.

StepWise requires access to motion activity data on your iPhone.

Please enable StepWise in: Settings > Privacy > Motion Activity And then re launch StepWise.

The best place to carry your iPhone is in your trouser pocket. Please try repositioning your iPhone and retry.

Alternatively, if steps still fail to be counted, please try the following to reboot your iPhone, as iOS itself may be failing to count the steps, and StepWise reads the information directly from iOS.

Whilst the device is on, and the home screen is showing:-

Press and hold both the Power button and the Home button. Keep both buttons pressed whilst the screen goes blank. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Then try again.

Check that StepWise can access your motion data. Go to Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness, and ensure StepWise is ON.

Please ensure that StepWise is able to write to and read from HealthKit.

This can be configured in Settings > Privacy > Health > StepWise. All settings should be on.

StepWise writes calories to HealthKit the following day.

Please ensure that StepWise is able to write to and read from each of the options required in HealthKit.

This can be configured in Settings > Privacy > Health > StepWise. All settings should be on.

Calories are added to HealthKit after midnight following each day when StepWise is next run.

Please do ensure that StepWise is run at least once every 7 days to ensure all data is both computed and written.

The iPhone collects and stores data for the last week by default.

Upon first install of StepWise, if this data is available, StepWise will use it to get you up and running.

StepWise should not cause any issue with your battery life.

StepWise does not use GPS or other high drain functions.

If you notice a reduction in battery life, please consider if you have installed any other apps that may use GPS or similar, as it is likely to be these causing an issue.

StepWise needs to run in order to capture and process your historical data.

If StepWise is not run for a period of more than 7 days, you may experience a gap in the history data.

Please run StepWise at least once every week.

StepWise does not show steps on icon.

Whilst this information can be provided, the count would only update on a periodic basis, and so is not guaranteed to reflect your actual steps.

StepWise prefers to ensure you have acurate figures.

Whilst StepWise is free, it does cost money to devlop and maintain!

If you find StepWise helpful, please consider supporting its continued development and support by leaving a tip.

Any tip made will also remove advertising from the app on this device.

Note that tips are not transferable between devices, and can be left more than once. If you are changing device, please ensure you backup the original device and restore to the new device.

To swap between MPH and KMPH please change the setting on the Settings screen.
Due to the way that the last 7 days is populated (using data directly from the device), this data may display incorrectly after migrating to a new device. This is due to StepWise restoring history data but the device not having the local data. This will resolve after one week.
StepWise will attempt to backup your history to iCloud if enabled. If you migrate to a new iPhone, StepWise will attempt to recover this data from iCloud upon initial launch. If historical data is located, StepWise will migrate your history. Note that if iCloud is switched off, data will not backup. Also, if iCloud is not enabled, or there is no data connectivity during first launch, the data will not be restored.
Please ensure that the iPhone is carried on your body. The best place to carry the iPhone is around your waist. It is also important that the phone is not kept in loose pockets, as this can cause the phone to record incorrect step data.

For accurate step distance in iOS 8 and above, please ensure that “Motion Calibration and Distance” in “Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services is switched on and try again.

Alternatively, you can use manual distance tracking. Tap the gear icon at the top left in StepWise Turn Auto Stride Length OFF Ensure your height is set correctly Set you gender

The height automatically estimates your stride. If you need to increase or decrease stride length, adjust your height.

It is worth noting that when walking on a treadmill, the distance travelled can be erroneous. This is usually due to the motion calibration and distance, and is caused because the device doesn’t actually move anywhere. Setting to manual as above may help, although again, when walking on a treadmill, stride length tends to differ, so results may still not be 100%.

StepWise stores one year of data. This data amounts to just a few megabytes.

If you need further help, please contact us via the contact option within the app. This will include data which helps us when answering your question.Thanks.
